Dieting, withdrawal and how meditation pointed out a dangerous addiction

In December 2014 I organized six sticky notes onto a white piece of paper and put it on my refrigerator.

On each note was a mini food log, tallying my carbohydrate intake for the day and a note with big letters reminding me to stay under 25 grams of carbs. Within four weeks I had lost 7 pounds or so, but one afternoon I disappeared into a puddle of heaping, messy tears. I began breathing deeply and trying to understand why I was sobbing uncontrollably when I heard a small voice say:

You did it again. Your answer to everything is to go on a diet.
